Obed Bundy was assisting in the extinguishment of a fire at the residence of Judge W.L.Dechant. He is reported to have climbed into a second story window before falling in. Men worked to remove him from the home. Once outside he initially appeared to revive but again lost consciousness and died. Bundy worked as an architect in Lebanon.

Firefighter Merrill was responding to a reported fire from his home near Mulberry and East Street, to the East End Fire Station. He collapsed and died of an apparent heart attack while running to the station. The fire destroyed a barn on Cincinnati Avenue.

Lebanon firefighters were called to the scene of a fire at the James L. Brown Rug and Dry Cleaning Plant at 11am. Firefighters worked the blaze until around 2pm that day. Firefighter Roy Yinger was rolling a hose after the fire had been brought under control when he collapsed and died of a heart attack. Yinger had served as a volunteer fireman for over 20 years.
